Hello, I have a quick question for ya'll...I just started my chicken family and have gotten a few eggs. The shell on a few of them is really weak. Is that normal ? I also read somewhere that the first few eggs they lay shouldn't be eatten, is this true? Thanks for your help!

Not sure about eating the first eggs... (we always ate our girls' first eggs, and they were the best

The first few eggs tend to be a bit odd...strange shapes, sizes, shell thickness etc. It's probably nothing to worry about - have your girls got access to oyster shell, as that gives them the added calcium they need for egg laying?

luckily I was able to find an organic feed with oyster shell in it. Thanks for the quick reply, as I am just about to go check on the girls!
