First timer...and I already screwed up!

lol...that's what I'm afraid of!

Ok...slight change of plans. Hubby stopped to pick up the incubator I had on hold at Tractor Supply last night, and somehow came home with the automatic turner too. (the more I'm on here the more you'll find, I do everything the cheapest/simplest way and hubby is a spare-no-expenses kind of guy. That's how I ended up with a western saloon/coop in my back yard too!

Anyway...How does this change things? Is that better?

I have the LG incubator with the turner. It works great with silkie eggs.

The only thing is the turner makes it a little hard to see the water troughs in the bottom of the incubator. Before you start loading eggs, I marked with a pencil which egg cup was over a water trough so I'm not guessing when I am filling. (If you miss the trough, your water will run out of the ventilation holes in the bottom of the incubator which might not be great for the table/counter it is sitting on!)

Get your incubator with the turner adjusted to the right temperature before you put the eggs in.

Don't be surprised if the temperature dips for a few hours when you add all those eggs. Give it a few hours to come back up before you adjust the thermostat, then only turn it a tiny bit at a time. It is very sensitive!

If the temp starts to spike after it's been stable, make sure the incubator isn't totally out of water. Mine is more stable when I never let it run dry.

Good Luck!
