Hey there everyone! So happy to be saying hello. I have wanted some chickens for a few years. Last year we moved out to the country. Sortta!! Just over five acres. We got our first chicks about 4 weeks ago. This week our coop is going up. I know I may change things over time, but happy with it so far. I designed most myself then my father (who worked with chickens in the past) made some suggestions. I think it is looking good so far.
We have 11 chicks a number of different breeds. I am thinking we will have a colorful group of girls and eggs!!! I have 9 children we homeschool. 7 still live at home. All are pitching in on caring for the chicks, the land and our other animals. I had a question that I posted in the baby chicks section concerning scissor beak.
Thanks so much!!
Tracy

Sure you can raise some chickens on five acres.

Don't know if you can raise nine county kids on five acres.
(Spook had a 100 acre yard growing up. Shared with brothers,
sister, three cows, chickens and pigs.)

Takes a lot of room to raise a county kid.

Welcome to the game.

P.S.

Spook hides out in Ohio now. But don't tell anybody. It's a secret.

Thanks!! They are having fun so far. Needed to break them in slow! They actually love the land and being outside.

Welcome & Congratulations!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
