First timers!!

thank you everyone. I like the tote idea. I didn't think of that! I didn't expect there to be so many fellow first timers. My kennel is just like yours KY. And I was concerned with the mess as well. I told my family it will need to be vaccummed every day so I don't get grossed out!! and so we don't have dust everywhere and my 14 year old said he would do it!! I can't get him to clean on a normal basis but he volunteered for this one! I am don't think mine will admit it's a great idea sgtmck1 but he wants to keep one in his room haha. (told him no!)

I am using a rabbit cage with towels around it to keep it warmer. NEXT time ( and there will be a next time

) I will buy a big tote and put hardware wire over the top. I will figure out a way to make it semi-permanent with a door in it. I have 5 cats and 2 dogs and inquiring noses need to stay OUT!!!

I also have a broody in a bigger rabbit cage living in our spare bedroom. That cage has a solid bottom and it is easy to keep shavings confined. I think she is moving out this weekend and my 3 weeks old that I hatched are moving into her home and into the shed.

My dream coop has runs in it where they can be totally enclosed at night, behind wood walls, not wire, and then have access in the day to the run where the older birds can see them but not reach them. Hopefully we will get it built this summer or fall.
