My first two little girls are now safely in their brooder- I am very excited. The RIR chick already jumps up into my hand, but the Araucana is a little more shy (and a little bit smaller). They had a hard trip to the feed store- they arrived 3 days late and many of them didn't make it. I hope that the two I picked out (bright eyes, clean feet and butts) are the tough little girls of the pack.
Here is my RIR investigating the camera- she is very inquisitive and loud;

Here are the two of them using the new little chick waterer (so shiny!);

This is their little brooder. I hope to get 5 (maybe six) over the course of the next few weeks.

Next week I'm picking up a Barred Rock, a Silver Lace Wyandotte, and a Golden Sex Link. I think it will be a very pretty flock!
