First Winter Egg!!

I am excited!! I just went out to check on the chickens and to my surprise there was an egg in the box! This is the first egg since mid November (when it actually got cold here), and we don’t use artificial lighting in the coop except for a heating lamp only a few night last week when it got down into the teens here.

They'll all be starting to lay soon. Before you know it you'll have more eggs than you can use. I give away lots of eggs in the spring.

My chickens consider the teens balmy weather. Gets rather chilly here in northern Montana.

I'm looking forward to it! They started laying only a month before it turned cold.
