Me and my family bought a 60 acre farm last November. In April, we got our first chickens. 32 to be precise and 5 ducks. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but it's been an adventure. Before getting our chickens I did a lot of research to select the breeds best for our cold Minnesota winters and brooders. We have silver laced Wyandotte, black australorp, buff orpington, light brahmans, ameraucanas , an easter egger, and two conish cross boilers... they were an impulse buy but I don't regret getting them since reading about the breed makes me sad learning what they are for. (No judgement on others who get meat birds for meat, but I know it's not for me )
