First Year Showing.....Fair is 3 weeks and counting

First,

. I have never shown ducks before, but one thing you can do is bath them. You dont have to use soap (although it wont hurt), just get dirt out. You can also make sure they dont have mites, ticks, etc. Since you are in 4-H, you might want to learn a little bit about the breed you are showing, some 4h clubs will ask questions.

Edit: I also forgot, Remove any broken feathers.

I'm afraid I can't help much with the showing aspect, but how are your ducks coming along? Where did you get them from? How old are they? What categories do you plan to show in? Those answers will help folks help you.

Also, what specifically do you want to know? How to prepare the birds for the show?

My son showed 2 of our call ducks last year. They took Grand Champion Breeder Pair. We did not bathe them, before the fair, but they have a pool they can access 24/7.

We did remove the food and water, from the cage, 30 minutes before judging. (We have heard rumors that the judges do not like getting pooped on.

So, are you doing showmanship, or are you just bringing them there to put in the cage and be judged? What type of duck? Welcome to 4-H, it's an awesome thing.......
