So my family and I have decided to raise chickens both for meat and for eggs. I have 12 Cornish rocks in a small coop that they have been in for almost a month. I cleaned it partially only one time, since it was difficult to get them all to move lol. It smells a bit bad in there and I am wondering if it will be ok to butcher them and eat them? They otherwise appear healthy. For our next batch next year we purchased a 6x10 dog kennel and I built a large shelter in there for them. We are planning on moving 5 red pullets into the coop once I remove the rocks. I am planning a deep cleaning of the coop at that point. Will it be ok to move the red pullets into the coop? Thank you in advance for your help!

I don't see why not to both of your questions. If the Rocks are healthy, then I would think they are fine to eat.

And just top off that deep clean with a good disinfectant, and I also would think you would be able to reuse the coop. We used to add chickens all the time to our flock, with minimal coop cleaning in between. Admittedly that was more than a little slap-dash, and I wouldn't do it now, but the hens were all fine.
