Fish Food for Quail

Hoppelchen, I can't even begin to thank you for that answer. The "quail only eat quail food!" replies were a little disheartening, and your breakdown chart helps with not only this question, but likely any number of questions I have in the future.

I already have it saved and get to immediately work on ways for it to be utilized.

I have fed my button babies fish crumbles the first couple of days after hatching with no ill effect. It's nicely sized for them and with all the fish in it, it will be a good soure of vitamin D3. I also have a wire kitchen collander and I pour some feed into it and eshake it so all the fine pieces come out and feed that to the babis. When I have the time and energy I run the game crumbles thru the coffee grinder.

I can do a jar of crumbles down to whatever size I want in a few minutes with mine.

I'm thinking the same thing...and cat food is for cats, but people grind and feed it....Go figure!
Don't even get me started on meal-worms.

I use a mortar and pestle to grind a mayonnaise lid full of GBS for one day. After that, my coturnix chicks must eat from my 24/7 all you can eat buffet of GBS straight from the bag. I have never had a starve out!

I try not to over think good game bird starter.
