I buy Spring Valley Fish/ flaxseed/ Borage Oil Contains Omega 3/6/9 Dietary Supplements for my husband and I. Can I break these open and add a little to the chickens feed, once in a while, or more, to get the oil supplement some suggest for longer and more productive egg laying?
I have Orpingtons.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't. In fact, some chicken feeds have fish meal (which would contain some fish oil) in it. Another way to boost the amount of Omega fatty acids in their eggs and meat is to supply them with greens. The more green matter they have in their diet, the more Omega fatty acids they will produce.

Just greens in general are good, but if you have a choice, give them some clovers and alfalfa. That is a good source of natural protein and makes an excellent forage for them. Plus, they LOVE the stuff.
