I just made myself 3 eggs for breakfast and one of them had an overwhelming fishy flavor when I took a bite. So bad that I spit it out. The egg itself is very fresh, not more than a week old. What’s going on? Has anyone experienced this? Before this my eggs were pretty bland, no different than store bought. Now this one has such a strong flavor it’s inedible to me.

I feed them 20% grower crumbles (we have young pullets too) and toss them table scraps, dried soldier flies and greens from the garden regularly.

Here's one link regarding fishy egg flavor..

I feel like I remember reading that feeding flax seed could contribute.

When considering doing mealworms.. one post I read stressed that feeding too many altered the flavor of eggs.. to the fishy side.

Another link which states it can be inherited by offspring from dames fed on canola meal..

I'd still feed that egg back to the animals rather than having it go to waste.. But how frustrating to not be able to detect it before taking a bite! :sick

This link has a cool video and shows a number of things that can go awry and some of their possible causes including how some (pasture) feed stuff can effect the contents in some crazy manners..
