five eggs

5 eegs in last ten days,but not in any boxes.1 here 1 there,,,,i now have collected the eggs in 1box,as iwant them to hatch a brood,will they catch on.when should i stop adding eggs to the box,'how,many eggs.my friend said he could bring a hen over that he knows sits?good/bad? all help welcome.thanks ev. Hens don't always go broody (want to hatch eggs). If one goes broody you can put eggs underneath her, but it's like the old addage.. you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. By leaving eggs in the nest all you are going to get are rotten eggs. Unless one of your hens decide they feel like hatching eggs, it's not going to happen. It will only happen on HER terms.
