I have 16 Rio Grands that I raised from chicks. They are now just over 5 months old. There are 8 males and 8 hens.
Two days ago, I noticed a male on top of one of the hens, like he was trying to mate. All of the turkeys were sort of ganged up around her. There were a lot of feathers on the ground. I chased them off, but later found her under the truck, sort of lethargic and depressed. After a few hours of her just wanting to lie in the sun away from all the others, I got worried about predators and put her in the coop. This was two days ago and she has not perked up.
I am very worried about her. Any suggestions? Do I need to take some of the males away? I can take them to the neighbors 1000 acre ranch.
