What are things they should never be fed?

Can they be over fed ?

Should they have food or water in their coop at night ?

If they are out in the garden & i have poisonous plants growing will they know & stay away or get stuck in ?

Can they be greedy & choke ?

Chickens are omnivores.

Mine eat everything. Love frogs, chicken carcasses, turkey carcasses, venison, leftovers, fruits, veges, yogurt, etc. I keep telling my dh not to pass out and fall in their run or i will find only bones! They will do anything for grapes!!! Oh, and they keep trying to kill the little wild birdies that land in my yard while they are freeranging.

I keep food and water available at all times until about 6-8 weeks old. Then it is just food and water in the run (food taken in at night).

But if the weather was so bad that they couldn't come out, obviously I'd put supplies in there for them.

I believe the meaties can be overfed (don't know anything about meaties)- but layers should never run out of food IMO.

What are things they should never be fed? - house plant scraps, for one. I'm not sure of others. Chickens are a lot like goats: they'll eat nearly anything.

Can they be over fed ? - I don't think so. When they're full, they won't eat.

Should they have food or water in their coop at night ? - You might as well leave it. Besides, they might get up earlier than you can get out there, and they want their breakfast!

If they are out in the garden & i have poisonous plants growing will they know & stay away or get stuck in ? - It may depend on the chicken. I'm not sure whether they'll know whether it's poisonous or not, and yes, they can easily get stuck in a garden, if there's a thick fence around it.

Can they be greedy & choke ? - yes. Many a chicken has died from choking.
