Hi, so I have five, 5 week old baby chicks. We have 2 silkie Batman mix, and three other breeds that idk. Anyways, this morning we decided to bring them to some nice fresh grass, and I noticed one was wobbly. Then a couple minutes later I see 2 more that r a bit wobbly too?!?!? I am very concerned bc I had a 8 wk old rooster last year that had the same problem and died the within the same week!! 😰

They have their own little coop and we are feeding them some chicken feed and no we do not have grit for them their poop is a little more runny and I post a video in a bit

They look a bit better today, Can’t figure out how to do a video and a photo really wouldn’t help, but it’s like one side is weaker than the other, but I have not seen them fall yet today so that’s good

For video, upload to youtube and provide a link, the BYC upload does not work.
Is the chicken feed - chick starter?
If they are wobby, I would get some poultry vitamins that has Vitamin E, B1 and B2 and either add those to their water for a few days or direct dose them.

Aren't chicks a little young for grit? I've never fed grit to chicks.

Everyone has their own way. I provide chick grit to chicks first thing - whether they are just hatched out of the incubator or when they arrive in the mail.
Mama Hen has them out in the yard eating dirt/grit, seeds, feed, bugs, etc. first thing so...

That said...the OP's chicks are 5weeks old and she's giving grass - yep, they need grit.

I let mine outside with a chicken tractor and food and water to eat clover. They have a lot of fun. I would only do this once my birds are well feathered.

We do not feed then chicken starter as we stopped feeding him that at two weeks I believe, we have been providing them vinegar in the water and giving them some poultry medicine with a whole bunch of vitamins in it.... Could us not keeping them on chick starter make them wobbly?
