So a while back I had taken some extra production reds that were essenntially overstock to a commercial laying operation. These ladies had the worst clipped beaks I've personally come across (I know there'smuch worse out there), and now that they've grown out some, I would like to fix them as best I can for them. I'm blessed with these ladies already trusting me completely, I've worked so hard to get them where they are today that they will happily allow me to poke and prod at will, but I doubt they'll like this procedure any.

I know I need a helper for this one, and to burrito them to keep them calm, and I've read a dremel tool is the way to reshape quickly with the least amount of stress... but with what bit? And is there another way anyone would suggest that's better?

Sorry for the bad pics, I didn't think to grab any before I decided to reach out for help, but I'll try for some new ones in the morning. The worse girl not pictured here, has a reverse duck bill thing going on, the extended sides are still almost clear, like new growth finger nails.

Thank you!

You can probably trim down the lower mandible but watch the blood line. It may or may not be a problem, trim as close as possible to the line. The top mandible will grow out in about 2 months time.

Here's good article by @TwoCrows
Doesn't show your exact scenario but might help:

Exactly the article I had in mind when I was thinking about undertaking this job! Thank you!

No one was very cooperative with pictures today, but to explain, the growth on one is mostly on the lower mandible - thin and translucent, but wide like a ducks top mandible.. like an elderly person's fingernails left to grow too long. I'll have a third person man a camera once I start so I can post my experience for anyone else curious about the process.
