Ok here is my plan:

run pvc from water supply to this: http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplie...01&productId=17618&langId=-1&division=FarmTek

From the regulator run pvc and then install this nipple: http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplie...01&productId=17663&langId=-1&division=FarmTek

using this adapter: http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplie...1&productId=104394&langId=-1&division=FarmTek

Is the construction that simple? I know to take install height into consideration, and am still reading up on the details but I need to order the equipment. Thanks, Victor.

Well I went ahead a bit the bullet. Chatted with the salesperson and they said that combo will work great! $60 after shipping for everything. (with 2 nipples). I will report back on how it works once I get it installed.

Here's a follow up:

I installed everything. I did have to use a small dab of thread sealant where the nipples screwed into the pipe. Although it may have been because I did not use a drill press and possible made an irregular shaped hole. I also learned that the regulator needs 20 psi or less coming into it to work.

Once I got the few bugs out and fine tuned the pressure everywhere (took maybe 20min) it works great! Took the chickens about 1 1/2 days to figure it out. They love it now, and I love it even more now that I don't have to worry. I will check the nipples about every couple of days just for my own peace of mind, but that still beats cleaning and hauling water.

Total cost was about $100. I had to run a long run (~100ft) of pvc out to the chicken coop. Took two days to dig ditch and bury pipe, and finish install.

I would recommend this setup to everyone. I will post pics later.

Watch those nipples they seem to hang up on occasion so your water would run at a continuous drip. I have had to replace several nipples after a bit once they start getting wore it seems it happens more. I run off a large water tank for mine and just fill the tank once a week instead of direct line. that is the only problem I have had is nipples hanging up and running continuously. Just keep a eye on them and do regular checks.

If you are experiencing dripping and leaks like Bone143 mentioned, you can switch to the waterer cups since they do not leak or drip.
