I have a female Pekin, just over two months old, that needs a new home. All I ask is that she is kept as a PET, and NOT as meat.

I have to move to a new county/neighborhood tomorrow, as very last notice, and there is no way I can get away with keeping her there. I don't even have a proper space to keep her temporarily until I can re-home her. I've called petting farms (which allow kids to chase down and try to catch their ducks, not a fan of that) and some awfully nice people who wouldn't stop talking about the good meat they raise them for. So, as I'm calling more places I figured I'd leave a post here and on craigslist. You never know.

I'm in Port St. Lucie, but I'm willing to drive out to you. It would be wonderful if we could visit her forever home as my daughter and I have grown attached to her. She loves gardening with me, even steals some of my compost worms when I'm not looking! She does not nip and would make an excellent petting farm duck, but I just don't think it's fair to let herds of children chase the poor girl down for the sake of fun. I know my options at this point are quite slim, but I'll keep her in a diaper in my living room before I place her in a home I'm not 100% confident in.

If anyone can help, or can recommend anyone that might be of help, I'd really appreciate it!

I was just starting to build her outdoor pen and pond then I'm forced out of my home because my landlord wasn't paying the mortgage with my rent. NICE.

Here is a picture of her from about two weeks ago, I took more today that I can upload if needed. She's what you'd expect a Pekin to be though, heh.

Thank you!

Ooooooh, I've been wanting a Pekin for a while now, haven't had any luck with the 2 eggs I had. We even have a pond and other ducks. But I'm all the way up in Jacksonville.

Well, wouldn't you know as soon as I post I get a reply back from a rescue farm in Christmas? I'm really excited, it sounds like a perfect place for Apple. (My daughter named her heh) The gal said we could stop by anytime to visit and she doesn't adopt out the pigs/ducks/chickens she rescues, just dogs/cats/rabbits. So Apple won't be dinner! A huge amount of stress has been eased knowing she'll be in good hands, we're leaving to go visit/drop her off in a few hours.

Thank you for the replies and messages!

Congrats! I was just wondering if my husband would kill me for driving down there for picking up a duck until I read about the rescue. Whew!

Oh that's wonderful!! I was going to offer my pond, since you agreed to do the traveling

That's great that you found her a home!
