flapping,prancing roos

We have ano roo,i don't know how old he was given to us. We have another one that is about 7-8mo. They get along fine, for now mostly. I was wondering though, they will runn to one of the hens and they will flap and prance around them . I don't know if they are berating them orshowing that they are the boss.Anyone know?

that is their mating dance. I freaked out too when I first saw it. These lovely people on this site are very heplful when it comes to animals and their keepers. Enjoy the site!!

Yup! Sounds like the Matting dance, itis quite funny to watch. the roo will circle a hen, drop one wing and dance around her.

it's not funny when they're trying to do it to you. i have a rir/oeg mix roo that likes to dance around me and then try to mate me.

i found him a home where he is the only rooster to 5 hens this past weekend.

blue90292 I know what you mean I was on crutches and now using a cane so I can't do much. My husband says kick him off to the side. He has just about broken him of approaching me like that. Monica
