I have wanted chickens for years. I planned initially on a chicken tractor, then a shed, then I wanted a garden shed for my non powered tools . . . And the planning went on for 7 or 8 years, I had no chickens yet. This year was the year. The way our property is ( a long ridge) the coop is visible before our house, we wanted it to be something we wouldn't mind looking at the rest of our years and we are barely at 40 years now. So we began . . . 12x24. Concrete sunk 4x4, elevated off ground a foot or more in some place due to uneven ground. Nice door, metal roof . . . But a permanent sound structure that could hold a goat or two if I chose. My dream chicken barn/shed/personal retreat. My husband goes to pick up our custom color roof (light gray to reflect sun as our ridge gets warm) and the local lumbar yard in our small town knows we are essentially building a coop. So as my husband leaves yesterday, the man at the counter smiles, and says . . .
"These must be mighty special chickens, when do they get their flat screen TV?"
I think he was making fun of us, LOL. Now that I think of it, maybe that's not a bad idea. . . Apparently he is doing a better job keeping track of our running total than we are!!!!!!! I laughed so hard. Thought you guys might find this funny too!
