Flavored Feed

Two questions, what the heck type of chickens are these two, and does anyone else flavor their chicken's feed? I admit, red kool-aid wasn't the best choice since that my blood train them, but they love it more than little kids. The picture is after most of them have eaten for a while. I used to smash up lambs quarters (a weed that is high in vitamins) and use the juice in their feed and they would go crazy. But I had some expired kool-aid, and it makes them eat more and keep them from scratching it all over… I've also used iced tea and coffee as an experiment, and they liked it. Humming bird nectar went over well also, but they will have to settle for kool-aid.

I have to agree... the feed is already formulated for their needs and too much sugar is unhealthy (just like it is for humans!). You could give some free choice treats sometimes if you wanted but I wouldn't add it to feed

Sugar free kool-aid contains artificial sweeteners that may be very bad for your chickens as well

It doesn't seem like caffeine is a healthy choice either... Giving a stimulant like caffeine to pets can be fatal.

I have to ask . . . . Why do you think you have to flavor their food?

Flavor their feed with meal worms twice a week. I am sure your babies will find them tastier, and healthier, than Kool-Aid.
