I’m not sure whether this makes me feel better or worse!

I just went out with a flashlight, and see no evidence of mites on her body or the roost with a quick check, but couldn’t see her comb very well.

Take a wet cloth and wipe the comb off, it looks like dirt stuck to the ointment to me.

Yes, it looks like black dirt or some type of ash. Everything will stick to the comb or skin if there is cream or ointment on it. Hopefully, it isn’t anything too serious.

My three daughters really enjoyed a good laugh about this.

Not gone, but it looks to be scabbing up and much improved when I cleaned her up today. I think we are definitely on the right track!
