Flax Seed

Hello,

Can anyone tell me about adding flax seed to chicken feed? I've seen some information about the benefits to eggs and the chickens themselves.

A few questions - how much to feed to them? Daily?
Is this just the flax seed we buy at our grocery stores?

I have 5, 6 week olds, 12, 2 1/2 week olds and soon will have 3, 10-11 week olds. They are currently on a non-GMO feed, I add probiotics to their feed and Apple cider vinegar to their water. Everyone is new to us, and everyone is doing wonderful.

My chickens didn't like flax seeds- I have fed them before. Too many can make the eggs taste bad. I stuck with less than 4% of the feed.

They need grit when getting whole grains/seeds, either from the soil or provided from the feed store. I wait until 8 weeks of age to introduce whole grains/seeds.
