Flea explosion..... need advice on safe & economical way to treat yard.

Anyone else having a flea problem?
This year has been very wet and hot. The fleas are eating us alive. Every time we walk outside they come in on our clothes, and on the dogs. The dogs are up to date with their flea medication, but that doesn't keep the fleas from hitching a ride into the house. Spraying our clothes with Off and the dogs with a citronella based fly repellant is getting really monotonous, time consuming and expensive.

I know all the ways to clear the house of fleas..... what we need is a safe way to control the fleas in the yard without harm to the chickens, dogs, and limited impact on the environment. I know this is a lot to ask from one product. It's about 4 acres so it's got to be economical.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Honestly, I would put the dogs on a flea pill that doesn't repel them, it kills them, and let the dogs vacuum them up. We had really really bad flea issues in our house after bringing in some ferals and once we got all of the cats on flea pills all of the fleas vanished in a matter of days because every flea that bit a cat died.

Do guineas eat fleas? I know they are recommended for tick control.

The dogs are on Trifexis, and it does kill fleas. Every time they come back inside they spend an hour chewing themselves.
When my husband walks to his shop and comes back in, there are dozens of fleas on his pant legs. They're driving me crazy.

I would love to have guineas, if they eat fleas I'm in.

I don't deal with fleas.
I treat my yard regularly to prevent them.


Permethrin is safe to use.
