Hello all!
I was by a windo doing homework when I heard a commotion from outside. Probably just another pecking order squabble. I thought, mentally rolling my eyes. Then, I heard it. A high pitched chirp. It sounded frantic. I jumped out of my chair and ran outside. There was a little bird, the runt of the four fledglings that have been leaving the nest in the past two days. It couldn't yet fly, and was being chased around and pecked by the chickens. It's parents were(unhelpfully) standing by, chirping madly at the chickens. I shooed the chickens away and, after a long struggle, returned the fledgling to it's tree. I know that isn't a solution, but I couldn't keep the chicken's at bay forever. I'm not entirely sure what to do. We don't have a run to shut the chickens into; our chickens free range in a fenced in yard and sleep in a small, but very, very, secure(as in bear proof) coop. I'd really prefer for the fledgling not to die. Any suggestions???
