Flies Around The Coop

Is there any natural way to minimise fly populations around the coop area? its not a big problem but if there is something i can put down or plant that wont affect the flock I go in the run and rake it and put it in the compost pile but any suggestions would be great!

I am a new chicken owner, however; all the BYC members are wonderful and they will help you out alot.

There are several pages on Food Chemical Codex Grade also called DE. It works for all kinds of insects and keeps your chickens from getting lice and mites. You can put it in their food for worming them. Alot of the BYC members use it. I just bought my bag the other day, after reading all the comments by the members. I put it in my coop and have not seen anymore flies since.

Make sure there's enough shavings in the coop and throw scratch in the litter every now and then for the hens to mix it up.
