Rescue fly traps. You can find at Walmart or any of the big chain stores. They run about$3-5 each. Are disposable, and work for about a month. Place them away from the area you're trying to control. And definitely away from the house. They smell horrible when you add the water. Here in southern Georgia I can fill one with flies in about 2 weeks. I had 3 electric zappers up and one trap kills more than all combined.

The rescue fly trap did nothing for my problem. I spend hundreds of dollars on every disposable fly thing that is manufactured from Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Tractor Supply. I spent hours of my life trying to get the fly thing under control. Guess what has finally started working. I am using the food grade Diatomaceous Earth in a shifter. I wear a mask as breathing in Diatomaceous Earth causes lung issues. Of course this is much safer then Pemerthrin spray and other pesticides. A very fine, not even visible, layer on everything. The fly lands and gets it on his legs thus drying his body up. This does not work immediately but has been a LIFE SAVER. Almost lost my mind due to the amount of flies. People telling you that the coop is not clean and other things. I am in Miami we have flies and every kind of insect everywhere and it has nothing to do with cleanliness. Also, there is no way my ducks are going to stop pooping so it is never going to be spot free clean.

This means that IARC could not decide whether or not permethrin can cause cancer. The U.S. EPA decided that permethrin was "likely to be carcinogenic to humans" if it was eaten. This decision was based on the structure of permethrin, what happens to it in the body, laboratory tests that caused tumors in mice and evidence of tumors in rats.

Pretty scarey! I'll pass on that stuff. Something I have found that works, is to get several heavy pie or cake pans (not disposable aluminum) and fill then up about 1/2 inch with a mix of beer and molasses. Mix one bottle or can of your favorite beer with an equal amount of molasses (or about a lb of sugar), heat it just enough it mixes. it will attract and capture all kinds of bugs and flies. It won't hurt your birds, some will even eat the bugs out of it, especially ducks!
