Flies?!

Where do you put the DE? Floors? Nesting areas?
Do you use a dust mask yourself?
Have you ever noticed the dust bothering the breathing / respiratory of the chickens?

I've heard it is harmful to humans and animals for breathing, but would like to hear experiences of those who have used it, as its benefits seem so great that I want to use it.

My local pet store won't sell it, because of the "harmful effects" .... perhaps I can drive a bit further out to our livestock areas and get some at a feed & tack shop.
