I have three Sumatra chicks. They are almost 5 weeks old. One of them is a runt. They are all feathering out a great deal and looked very healthy. Two have started to fly but one has shown no interest in it. Instead he just runs and when I mean runs he's fast. I have never seen an adult bird move so fast let alone a chicken. He is a run and was sick and weak, and had to be assisted when he hatched but he seems like a perfectly healthy bird. Has he perhaps traded in muscles he needs to fly in order to have great speed with running, or is he just late to try and fly. I have looked at his wings and when I hold him on my arm he fly's away so wings are in good shape. Any ideas why he runs so fast and choses to run instead of fly?
