(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We've always had chickens but when our son passed away in 2015, my grief work turned into raising chickens. Keeps me outside. Keeps me sane.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 300 4 day old meat chicks, 50 something laying hen chicks, 20 laying hens, 5 roosters

(3) What breeds do you have? Red Rangers, Marans, RIR, Wyndottes, Plymouth Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Sussex, too many to name

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? looking up answers to my endless questions

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? small group Christian fellowship, homeschooling, raising cattle

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

5 awesome kids here on earth with me 17years to 5 years and one in heaven, amazing husband. We live in SE ALabama, lived in Asia several years, born and raised in the SOuth

You are very welcome at Backyard chickens. I'm sure you have enough chicken sense and experience to be writing articles for BYC, Chickens are very therapeutic. So very sorry that your son passed away.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
