Flock Dynamics

My flock consisted of 14 birds. My older birds consist of a silkie rooster and 3 americauna hens, a leghorn or ISA brown rooster and 4 of his own hens, a bantam rooster and 4 hens of his own. My question is by culling the larger rooster how long will it take for the silkie to take on the 4 roosterless. They all share the same run and up till now the larger rooster hasn’t been aggressive.

It depends if the Silkie or the bantam become top bird, after you cull the larger rooster. Or so I would think.

2 Roos and 8 females in the run or 3 Roos and 12 females?

If it goes down to 1 roo and 8 females, the addition four will have to be won over by remaining roo. Could be a week or month.

If there’s a choice between Roos they will migrate to the most liked/better roo

The silkie is actually top rooster. The larger rooster is one I got at TSC and was supposed to be a pullet but surprise. We were going to see how it worked out until I either found another home for him or he became aggressive. Today he bit my husband and I refuse to have an aggressive bird.

Just get rid of him and don't worry about it....things will balance out.
