Hi all,

We have a flock of about 75 chickens, a few different breeds. Maybe 12 of them are about 2 years old, and the rest are a year to year and a half.

We had consistently been getting 50-60 eggs a day for many months, but over the last 4 months or so this has dropped to an average of 24 or so.

We are in Maryland and had a fairly hot summer, but as it is cooling, the count is going even lower. I have heard that molting can result in a drop, at least for a few weeks, but this seems persistent.

Does anyone have any idea what may be the cause of this?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

It's molting season. I have 35 laying hens, & only got 6 eggs yesterday.

Most eggs I've gotten on average at the beginning of molting was between 10 - 14 eggs.
