Hey guys,
Hoping Im posting in the right place...?
Basically, our 11 older x bat girls arent laying, and havent been for a good couple of months.
Ive recently started finding 1 egg, but thats it from them.
Theyve been treated for mites etc, and other other 11 new x bat girls are laying.
Some people have said its due to the weather, in the UK weve just had a massive heat wave the past week or more,
but if were getting eggies from the newer girls surely this isnt the cause?

Dont know what else to try? They get treats every few days, any help would be great?

Thanks guys!

Siobhan

you say they get treats but are they getting a good quality laying feed? thats very important for layers. and extra calcium in the form of Oyster Shell will help also. Also age, after age 2 hens aren't as productive. Congratulations on getting these girls hopefully they will return it by laying for you.

They get some good pellets theyve been on the entire time, and they have access to oyster shell.
When we got them they ranged from 11 months to a year.. I only say older cos its easier for me to separate the "older" and "newer" hens.

Like I said, we have one of the original girls who lays but thats it ;-\\

You still haven't stated how old these chickens are. You have stated you got them when they were 11 mths to a year, but that doesn't tell me when you got them = how long you have had them.

Are they in molt by any chance? during molt they don't lay. if you have too many roos that can upset the laying process.too many treats can also throw it off if they eat more of them than their laying pellets. I am not saying you should do this but I have even cut out scratch for now, will probably start giving it again when cold weather comes back but for now all my hens get is Purina Flock raiser and oyster shell on the side with meal worms as a treat. they free range so they get alot of extras that way.

Not sure if this is commom, but I have an Amercauna that has gotton round worms 2 times in last 2 months. She quits laying when this occurs. After I worm them, she starts layin again. This time after I use the wazine, I am going todo a follow up with Safeguard, and hopefully the worm issue will be rectified. The mites and such have already been mentioned, so I thought I might suggest this as a possible prob as well.
