I was wondering what y'all used (if anything) animal wise to help protect your flock. Ive been thinking about getting a Pyrenees or other LGD to raise up with my birds and horses just as a watchful eye protector of sorts. Anyone tried it or been successful with it?? Ive heard someone has a llama to protect their chickens. What other animals do y'all have for this job??

O and please feel free to post pictures

Pop - Ive heard they are. I have 3 horses as well (a Paint, a QH and a Saddlebred that we rescued). Hubby doesnt want a donkey but is fine with a dog. He has a dislike for donkeys for some reason

lol.

I have an australian cattle dog, an acd/gsd, and a black-and-tan hound. They make an excellent team, and no predator has ever penetrated our fortress. They are amazing with the birds, they will walk among the flock and the chickens will walk under and between their legs. My acd/gsd will even help me chase down a stubborn bird and pin it between her legs until I come to retrieve it. She's never hurt one, though. I don't know how we'd function without them!

Super protective of 'his' flock. To the point of being annoying xD.
Also, we built the goat pen around the chicken coop... dunno if that helps protect it from predators, but whatever.

My horses have killed a stray dog for going after a foal, and have chased a coyote away from the chickens. The chickens tend to stick close to the horses, and I feel pretty confident that they're a good deterrent to most predators. I also have a rooster and some turkeys, and have yet to lose any chickens to a predator (other than my own dog
