flock raiser

Yeah, that combined Starter/Grower should be around 20% protein, which is the same as Flock Raiser. The other components are close enough that there is no significant difference. You can feed either one with oyster shell on the side. Especially for growing chicks, I would not mix oyster shell in with the feed.

If the chicks are over 4 weeks old, you can use Grower of you want. That works well for chicks that will become part of a laying flock, not real well if you have meaties. It has the same percent protein as Layer, just without the extra calcium that can be harmful for growing chicks.

ok thank you all for the info. or feed store only sells medicated starter :-/ boo why cant our feed store sell different types of food lol

Flock Raiser jumped to $17.49 a bag locally last year so I switched to Southern States grower/finisher which is the same thing as the Purina product. It is a non-medicated crumble without additional calcium so it is safe for young pullets. I pay $13 for a 50#bag.

THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME

I use Flock Raiser for all my birds and offer oyster shell free choice for the layers. Everyone has lovely eggs and no ducks with angel wings or other issues. This is my feed of choice actually.
