i brought down the chickens to the farm for winter and took some pictures. they're all so big and fat and glossy! the mountain was good for them - they became predator aware, learned how to range properly, and went to town on the rodents in the area.
my Cream Legbar rooster is bigger than I was expecting and so pretty! The Ayam Cemanis are now sexable too. i'm thinking of selling some of the Ayams once I pick my favorites.
i am still not sure on if i have a breeding pair of turkeys. i thought the one on the left was a tom. the rooster in the bottom corner is HUGE, he's a black copper marans. Lots of Ayams and black lavender splits in here.
F1 Marshmallow is looking like a rooster to me. That muddy/dusty color on the back is true color (not dirt). Based on the responses from my last post, I think they're a paint/erminette. i know they have white dominant I/i+, i'm considering testing them for recessive white.
Some hatchlings have some really nice coloring, there's two with that buff chest.
this mama hatched out some eggs + took incubator babies hatched the same day (what luck?!?). all turken crosses. they're just running around the barn doing chicken stuff. i have always babied them and kept them in a brooder but they seem to be doing just fine. they go to a closed area at night that doest have a lamp, but they mostly sleep under her. what a good mama. these aren't even her babies or her rooster's babies, she's picking up the slack for another pair of birds lol.
F1 Grass Dancers have feathered feet. This one had black and white feathered feet at hatch but it looks like they grew out to be all black.
look at this sweet thing haha. hoping for a pullet to pair this bird with the F1 Marshmallow for Lavender feather footed babies.
