I had to pull one of my girls she is smaller than the rest of my flock she had an injury from the rooster he ripped a hole into her backside. I have her almost back to normal again still trying to give her time to grow more feathers she was bare as well it was terrible.

I have had her seperated for about 3 wks now. I thought I would allow her to be with them at night again to start out with but they all ganged up on her in seconds and were pulling her feathers back out and had her pinned into a corner she was soo scared, I stepped in and grabbed he back out I was afraid of her getting reinjured she is still healing.

What on earth am I going to do now? I really don't think they will let her back in, and I am trying to decide if I should just get rid of the rooster all together now and than try to put her back with them. He has since been despurred we pulled them off and I think he is just so big (RIR) that he is going to do the same thing to her again. I though about ordering the saddles for her.

Any Ideas?

Get or make a cage that she can be in and put it with the group, so they can all see each other and get used to each other again. This may take a while. Take her out and let her be with the group for short periods, but only with supervision. I have found that if I let the chickens out in the field, as I slowly re-introduce a hen, that they are less likely to gang up on her. Sometimes I can let them all out together in the day time, but have to take the recovering bird back inside at night, and other times I can leave the recovering bird with the flock at night and have to remove her in the day time. It's quirky, but they have their own personalities; I am just their keeper and servant.
