Greetings all,
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? 2010
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? My flocks have ranged from 2 to 53, I tend to raise more than I need and sell the extra off.
(3) What breeds do you have? several sex-linked varieties, NH and NJ Red, Rocks, Egyptian Fayoumi's, Easter Eggers & other blue & green egg layers, etc. Currently - commercial Novagen (a type of Leg horn)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? They are delightful to work in the property with while they can be so helpful and playful! Love the eggs, and the plants love the manure!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Plants (inside and out), wood working, designing formulas for pathologies
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are governed by an "Impress" who is becoming an Empress now, a beautiful Bengal, who oversees any animal that is brought in for raising or rehabilitation, such as ducks/ducklings, hens or kittens/cats. As a PhD in Eastern/Oriental Medicine, my goal is to treat/raise them in a healthy, natural manner.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? Web search. Have known about for a few years. Today there was a post I felt I needed to respond to.
