Floor covering inside coop

I will be putting the plywood down for my floor tomorrow. Just wondering what is best to do with the plywood to protect it. I have read on here about linolium, sticky tiles, and painting it. Any ideas on what is best?

For my smaller coop, sticky tiles didn't work. If the waterer spilt, it caused that tile become unsticky. I suggest going to a flooring store and asking for remnants. They are cheap and it should cost much.

I think I will paint mine and then seal it with multiple coats of deck sealant. If at a later time I find out it doesn't work, I'll just lay vinyl over it.

I got sticky tiles for mine and bought some industrial strength tile adhesive. I heard that the only way to make peel and stick tiles work is with the extra adhesive.... we're doing ours this weekend if all goes well.

PORCH Paint is GREAT
Sheet vinyl or linoleum is great
Sticky tiles are NOT GREAT

If you paint it, do not put deck sealer over it... It's one or the other, else the paint (or sealer) will not stick.

Really though, since it's a trafficked area, the best thing is to use porch paint.. Stuff wears like rock.

Thank you Dark. I wouldn't have known that. You probably saved me alot of hassle.

Maybe my husband would have mentioned something like that to me eventually. Who knows... more often than not he lets me make my own mistakes... He says "You learn best by doing". He's probably right.

No problem, eh..

It's the kind that's made specially for high traffic wood or cement porches. More $$ than normal paint, but it will last for years and years.

Thanks for all the great feedback. If I can find a full piece of vinyl I think I am going to go that route, Other wise the porch paint.

I used a tarp to cover the floor in the coop(comes up the wall a bit)That way when it is time to change/clean out I just gather it up and haul it all out a once(with the help of DH)wash the tarp off, let it dry and start over again...we do deep litter and it beats shoveling it out.

I used linoleum remnants. it works great. when it's time to clean the coop I just push the pine chips to the door and onto a tarp.
