We are converting our shed into a coop. Right now it has old pieces of plywood over a layer of rocks over the ground. The plywood needs to be replaced. But I was thinking maybe there is something out there that would be better.
Suggestions?

My chickens free range all day and only hang out in the coop at night. Personally I am going cement this time so NOTHING can dig through it. But ours is on a slight slope and the floor is not level. I didn't want a plywood floor above ground because of things going under it and the work involved in peirs and supports for the floor. So we left the floor dirt and build the enclosure around it to appear level, but the floor inside it not.

I am going to be able to hose it out in the summer....YEAH.

That's so funny. We just converted our old shed into a coop this last week.
And we had the same thing as floor. Plywood.
We ripped out the plywood, and put a few bags of cement in it's place. Then covered the Cement with Cement Board.
Hubby did mention that it would have been better to have left the floor as it was, and just put the Cement Board right over it.
Would have saved us TONS of time.
Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be great!
Good luck!

We have lots of digging predators and a very small henhouse so went with cement. It's a dream to keep clean. Good luck!

I'm new here. So HOWDY! I am in the process of building a coop and will be gluing VCT (Vinyl Tiles) on plywood for easy cleaning. I am also putting one layer at the base of the walls and sealing the whole thing. I have seen it before and it works great for washing it out. I will post pics when done.
