Hi there. Love this site! I am in need of some help. What should I use as flooring in my run area? My girls are free range, but not at night or when we are gone on a trip. We live in FL and it can get hot. My girls have a great covered run, so they are protected from the elements. My q for you all, what kind of flooring would be best? I heard river sand was great because it makes poo and easy clean up. Anyone tried that? Or should I just stick with top soil. I need to add a big layer more of topsoil because they dig so much....any thoughts would be highly appreciated!

! Great to have you with us! Sand is a great option if they do have to spend time in the run - it drains the water away where soil makes mud that gets tracked into the coop. Good luck to you and have fun!

Ty,,,we went with white sand and they love it. I think with us in FL it was the perfect choice. It stays cool on their little feet.
