Flooring in the chicken coop

All my coop but one has earth floors. The one that isn't a earth floor has floor made of CDX Plywood and it has a good 3 coats of linseed oil on it...
All the coops even the one with a wood floor has builders sand bedding.....

the floor of my coop has hemlock 2x10 planking. old stageing planks. when my coop was built last year i was going to use plywood but the guy had the boards and i went with them. he spaced them out like a nail width apart. only thing thats bad about it is a little bit of shaveings can go down thrue the cracks other than that a good sturdy floor.

mine are wood (one is cement) covered with shavings! might cover some of the wood ones with linoleum if i can find some free/cheap.

igot 4 pens, 3are 12 by 12 and the other one is 12 by 24 and i put builders sand and i works very well,they realy like taking their sand bath,they are happy i'm happy.

I have an 8'X8' coop with 1/2" pressure treated plywood floor. So far works well.

I have pressure treated plywood on the bottom and then 1/2 inch Hardibacker concrete board on top of that. The concrete board provides a firm surface that won't rot and is easy to clean - so far. It's also not so heavy that it makes the coop too difficult to move. You can also get 1/4 inch backer board.

We have linoleum. It is held in place by blocks I can just unscrew and roll the linoleum up, take it outside and hose it off then put it back. We use about 4 inches of pine shavings on top of the linoleum.

I used linoleum on top of the plywood also. We didn't think ahead enough to frame on top of the linoleum. Instead we used some free 2x6's we had to line the border of the coop and cover the edges of the linoleum. Then we painted it in too.

We got the linoleum remnant half price, and it makes it so easy to clean - and easy to stir the shavings - whatever needs to be done.

In regard to mildew, etc., i washed the walls, etc. down with bleach and then painted them before we put chickens inside.
