Floppy comb?

She is beautiful! Is she a cochin? I have had sick hens get a floppy comb. Is her behavior completely normal? You could check for abdominal bloating, which would be indicative of ascites. If she were losing fluid to her abdomen, she could be dehydrated otherwise. She looks quite lovely and healthy in the photo.

By bloating in the abdomen, we are talking about the fluffy, downy area below her vent and between her legs (the "fluffy butt" area). Cup your hand around it. Does it feel swollen? Squishy like a water balloon? If you cannot tell, you can compare her to other birds in your flock.

She seems like she always is. She is a hybrid Midnight majesty. both my Wyandotte and her are the most timid and at bottom of hierarchy in the chicken pen. It seems the first layers are the top dogs or top hens I should say. I looked for before photo an sep 5 she did not have a comb just theridge so it didgrowfast
