FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Have
have you been on the natural keeping thread? I have learned so much about organic chicken raising on there.

Yes! I've learned a TON from that thread! I was wondering if we could grow fodder here but our feed store only sells barley in 50lb bags and our home is kept at 78 degrees so I'm not sure it'll work and I don't want to waste that much seed...I'm planning on doung the fermentation method with feed, free ranging and feeding table scraps. We have 1a chicken but getting 9 more once our coop is finnished...and hot weather specific advice would be great!

Anyone else in Florida consider building an ark for keeping chickens safe during recent flooding? Glad its sunny and we're getting a bit of a chance to dry out!

Yeah, really! I have my little mobile A-frame coop on top of the septic mound in the backyard, so flooding wasn't an issue for them, but the rest of the yard got soupy. I accidently stepped into the tilled garden on the way to my compost bin and the ground sucked my clog off!

8 yr old graqnddaughters silkie died yesterday and she is heartbroken. Looking for either a couple of fertile eggs immediately as I have a broodie or a 6+ week old pullet to replace her. I am still looking for same age cochin pullet.

I haven't been on here in FOREVER mainly because my work has had me so busy all winter long. In my spare time I deal with my chicken and dog show addictions!
Anyway I have several roos that need to go! I am in St. Pete and I get away wth one or 2 roos because I bribe everyone with eggs but now I have too many. I have a nice blue splash silkie roo, a black Isbar and a blue Isbar roo....they need to go . They were hatched the end of September . I can text you pics . I also have Breda chicks and a couple crème Brabanter chicks available ....PM me if interested and I can send pics.

I had trouble with mine molding. I think it was just to warm. I may try again and feed it as sprouts rather than fodder. My chickens love the fermented food.
