I will be bringing some Reese/Mohawk cockerels to the Inverness show to sell. I am also showing a cockerel and pullet.

I plan on attending the show in Inverness on Oct. 25. I have never been to one before and am curious as to what happens at these shows. I understand the judging and stuff but are there vendors for other things besides poultry? Arts & Crafts? Food vendors? I have 3 granddaughter's who will be attending with me. Are there any clinics for those who my be interested in showing a bird in the future? Anything you can tell me would be very helpful. I searched and searched online and couldn't find out anything more than an entry for showing a bird.

Hi all,

I'm in Tampa FL but my birds are in Bradenton

It's been getting rainy n therefore wet n stays muddy in the pen (I have two BR turkeys). I heard about some sort of lime-something that can be added in order to help dry?

I also read a but about gravel/sand.

Any ideas for keeping their space dry?

In October we will be holding our Farm Swap on the 3rd Saturday, Saturday October 18th, as there is a Poultry Show at the Citrus County Fairgrounds Auditorium on our usual swap date on Saturday October 25th.

Our Next Crystal River Mall and Rural King Farm Swap is Saturday October 18th. 1801 NW US Hwy.19 Crystal River, FL 34428, (Normally the 4th Saturday Monthly). Located in the parking lot of the Crystal River Mall next to Office Max and the main mall entrance on Hwy 19. If you are just thinking about chickens or small livestock or already have an established flock or small holding, then you won't want to miss this event. Come join us for a day of talking, swapping and selling poultry and small livestock. Meet the locals. Swap stories and information on the care and raising of your flock and small holdings. Buy/Sell/Trade anything and everything to do with poultry and small livestock. We usually have various breeds and ages of poultry, rabbits, goats and sometimes piglets. There will be cages and crafts as well as new poultry and livestock products at great prices. Hoping this past Spring has found you hatching lots of chicks. But now that you have them, what are you going to do with all of them? You pick out the best to keep for your own personal stock, you might have sold a few to neighbors for their own flocks but that still leaves you with lots of extras. Maybe this past Spring has given you baby bunnies or goat kids, or maybe even an extra calf or two. Maybe you have eating eggs or hatching eggs to sell. How about some pieces of old farm equipment, a small tractor, harrow, used tack or what have you. Maybe you have fresh fruits, vegetables, plants and trees. What are you going to do? Bring them on down to the Crystal River Mall Farm Swap. Great exposure, lots of parking, lots of potential buyers. Normally runs the 4th Saturday of every month, from 9am to usually around 2pm. We are considering having a Florida Chickenstock. We are looking for a good location for all that want to come. Any suggestions are welcome. We could have it on a Saturday or make it a weekend event. We want to plan this well in advance so people will have plenty of time to plan and prepare. When we started our Dunnellon Tractor Supply Co Farm Swap we originally planned for it 6 months prior to our first swap. One idea is to have it in the spring. We would like to have food, entertainment, games especially for the kids, raffles along with some clinics for care and raising of our birds.
