I have nigi's here at my house. they are smaller than my rott/shepard doggie. They don't require alot of space to keep & the food is minimal. they have the best feed to milk ratio of any goat & their milk is sweet. I have never milked mine but have 2 preggo.....
I love my 2 does & my buck weezy who is a complete love bucket. They just keep chewing my clothes...hahahah
I give them feed in the morning & free choice hay. I also mix in some minerals for them.

Silly, thanks! before yours got pregnant did they bleat a lot when in heat?? the rancher I spoke with said they can be very noisy when in heat and I am not sure how they would do in a residential neighborhood? Are yours in a fenced in area with their shelter?? Or do they roam in just the backyard? I am thinking of making a shelter and then allowing them to roam in the backyard.

Hello again BYC friends! I am not sure where to ask this question, so I will start here... I am looking for a specific type of place to live. If you know of anywhere that fits the bill, please let me know!

1. chicken friendly
2. bee friendly
3. small town
4. 3/2 home on at least .5 acre
5. walking or biking distance to post office, library, grocery, thrift store, small college (my daughter is early enrolled teen) or on bus route as we are a 1 car family who tries not to drive much.
6. progressive friendly - I am very liberal and keep it to myself mostly but prefer not to live somewhere I will be lynched for being a tree-hugger
7. homeschool friendly
8. would love to be able to have a milking goat (or 2), too

If you know of a place like this in Florida, please let me know! If you know of a place like this not in FL that is ok, too as I am open-minded at this point!

I am in the burbs on about 3/4 an acre. i have them in a fenced part in yard pf the back which includes shelter for them. They will eat everything!!!!!!!!!!
they are really only noisy in the morning when they want to be fed. I didn't realize they were in heat but they look prego so we will see...................lol

Polk County has no laws on the books about chickens except they can't run the streets...hahha. some city ordinances will not allowed roosters but very few. you can always call the AG dept where ever you wanna move to check out if it's ok to have critters.

Ocala is a nice little big city to live but if you are looking for more smallish town feel, I recommend the county south of it, Citrus County... I have lived there all my life. Great small town, CFCC has a branch in lecanto for college students and I actually attend there.
