Please let me know. Thank you.

There is going to be a show in Inverness, Florida, Citrus County fairgrounds arena on Saturday October, 22nd. There are usually a lot of Silkies for sale. If there are any farm swaps in your area you may be able to find some there. Good luck and have fun...

Just a reminder of our Farm Swap this coming Saturday, the 4th Saturday monthly across the parking lot from Rural King next to Office Max on Highway 19. The weather should be nice with only a 20% chance for an afternoon isolated shower. People getting together. If you are just thinking about chickens or small livestock or already have an established flock, then you won't want to miss this event. Come join us for a day of talking, swapping and selling poultry and small livestock. Have some chickens/chicks to sell, turkeys, geese, ducks, guineas. Maybe some rabbits, goats, a calf, pigs, eating eggs or hatching eggs to sell? We have had horses for sale in the past. How about some pieces of old farm equipment, a small tractor, harrow, used tack or what have you. Maybe you have plants and trees. Bring it on down to the Farm Swap. We suggest vendors bring either a canopy or umbrella, there are some shaded areas, some open areas. These are farm swaps only so we ask that there are no flea market or garage sale items. Tell your neighbors, tell your friends, heck we don't care if you tell your enemies. Meet us for a beautiful day of buying, selling or swapping your farm related wares. As Always, No Fees! Come join us for our Monthly Farm Swap. If there is a local 4H or FFA group this is a good place to have a fundraiser. No electric.

Good evening!! Currently Central Florida (Orlando), but moving up to new land up in Jacksonville and would really love to make some connections to buy started birds from up there once our coops are complete! :)

We are in quarantine. Three birds have fowl pox. We had a processing party scheduled for next week.

[/IMG][/IMG][/IMG] Fowl pox is dreadful. We haven't lost any birds. The EE's got it, stopped laying for 10 days. The Wyandottes never got it. The RIRs had moderate cases. The RIW had 1 lesion (pictured) The Marans and Jersey Giants had severe cases (pictured). The most important thing is vitamins and making sure they don't get it in the mouth.

We have a Jersey Giants that is not out of the woods yet. She doesn't look as bad as the Marans, but she developed lesions over both eyes, was rendered blind, and could not eat efficiently. She would peck at the food, but often missed the feeder entirely. She is now on twice a day mash that is provided by hand.

Feed store clerk (best sources of local issues) explained that fowl pox is rampant in South Florida from July-September. We will be prepared next year.

All 3 stages of Pox are in the combination. Black are old and have scab that will fall off. Scabs are infectious. Pink are active but healing. Discharge is infectious. White is brand new and highly infectious. They discharge easily and the liquid is infectious.
