FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Ack!
That looks awful LeenyM. And a thing I've never seen on a bird before. I'm going to have to look it up so that I can be prepaired if I ever see it in my flock.

On the subject of rain... Hurricane Matthew. Ugh.
There is an evac order for the barrier islands of Brevard Co, and Disney is preping to shut down. Expected landfall is looking like Melbourne area from a state source. Husband is LEO so he has to stay and work it. I'm not normally one to leave, but my 15month old granddaughter is giving me other thoughs this time. I may just head up to Pensacola with DiL and baby girl in tow come tomorrow after I get everything packed in the shed(plants/chairs/etc), and batten down the chook pen.
Stay safe everyone!

I think my girls have favus

. I've been treating with Nystatin and putting probiotics in their water. So far it doesn't look like it's getting any worse and it doesn't seem to be too severe at all. I'm blaming all of this rain and Florida humidity.
Give the nystatin a bit longer, but if it doesn't get better in a week, you might want to get some Vagisil, and use that on it. Yes, you can blame it on the rain, and extra humidity we've had this year.

I have never been to a show, but I'll be at that one.
Any advice on how it will be for me as a pet keeper purchaseing birds from a show breeder? I assume that what they bring to shows are their personal BQ culls from their own show lines... But as I'm just looking for pets, I'm curious how the prices for the birds I want will be at a show event. (Partridge/Blu Partridge Silkies)
Just curious and want to be prepaired with cash.

One of my spangled oegb pullets gifted me with another tiny cream colored egg today. I got to watch her fuss with and arrange her bedding in a new nest box I added specifically for the small gals. She seemed happier with the smaller space. It's almost silly how happy making them happy maked me.
Cash is best. Not sure of the pricing. I plan on bringing some Reese line Rhode Island Red cockerels. I have sooooo many. I might bring some of my Rhode Island Whites cockerels too. I haven't sorted my pullets yet but will be showing some.

Will you live in Jacksonville about 15 minutes from the beach. There is no mandatory evacuation for our area yet but I was wondering what to do with my chickens. We have a screened in patio and I was going to put them in there for the next couple of days. Would that be sufficient? Their coop is pretty sturdy but the wind might break it off its legs(2x4's)
We plan on staying in riding the storm out so I will be here to check on them.

Our property is up there, and we were told to ply-wood our screened in porches for protection, wind chills/gusts are going to be very serious, I wouldn't recommend just the screens, since it is likely to rip if the storm is as serious as they say. If it is manageable to do so, I'd take down shower curtains/cosmetics, and put 'em all in a bathroom with no windows if possible

well that sounds like a great plan but both of our bathrooms have windows and we have an open house plan so it's gonna be hard enough for us to figure out what to do for our safety. We have their pen against the house and the rooms protrude about 5ft out so they may not get much wind. We will be here to keep an eye on them.
