FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Our new coop is so totally not water proof...not with rain like that..I will have to modify it somewhat to prevent poor chooks from getting soaked. At least for now they are still in the garage hiding out from code enforcement

so they stayed dry.

All right, I voted YES for keeping chickens (so far Yes is winning!) and I added a comment in favor of keeping them. Your community is writing more kindly than those here in West Palm, but many are still woefully ignorant, and therefore fearful.

It seems a lot of folks are concerned about having chickens stray into their yards, a legitimate concern. Chickens can do a lot of damage to landscaping! And also, I would be concerned about having my chickens wander into yards that are sprayed with chemicals. Have you proposed the keeping of chickens in coops or tractors? That might help you win your case there.

I been thinking about that myself.....wing clipping...would that help? Next door they have a mess back there and I can't imagine what's there. I wouldn't like my birds to go there......

Can you vote even if you are not from that comunity?

What if it were decided that people could no longer grow grass in their suburban yards, but must install astro-turf or rubber mulch instead? Grass can get messy, trigger allergies, introduce weeds into neighbors' yards, and is smelly and noisy to maintain. Hey, if you wanna grow grass, move to the country! This isn't zoned for agricultural use!

But small backyard flocks used to be as common as grass even in the suburbs. People should be allowed to keep both, as long as they don't affect the neighbors.

If people want to live in communities where there are tight restrictions on what you can do in your own yard, they should move to a gated community and pay the HOA fees!
